Asylum Wedding With An Awesome Jumpsuit

Jess and Andy are proof that winter weddings don’t have to be cold, grey and miserable; their South London wedding was a riot of colour and joy, which was totally representative of them as people too!

They booked a 5 hour package with me, meaning I turned up to their venue, the gorgeous distressed Asylum Chapel in Peckham, slightly before Jess did to take some shots of their styling. Asylum doesn’t need much doing to it as it’s so full of character all on its own, but they’d lit some pillar candles on the stage to add warmth and tied flowers to the ends of the rows of chairs with hot pink ribbon which, as soon as Jess entered, we saw was the gorgeous focal colour.

You can see from the photos that Jess was every bit an alternative bridal style DREAM! Her wide-legged jumpsuit was made from the most incredible geometric pattern – and before you ask, it’s vintage! Sob – which she wore with a pink blazer with feather cuffs and a hot pink turban headband with a birdcage veil. Both Andy and the bridesmaids wore forest green – a beaut colour palette all round!

After their ceremony, which was so full of warmth and loveliness, I took the newlyweds for some portraits on their own, making full use of the Asylum’s architecture and the surrounding streets for a quiet (but no less fun) moment together. After that, we hopped aboard a classic red London bus to get to their reception venue, the Ivy House pub in Nunhead.

The super cool graphics that were on their order of the day were also on their table plan, which signalled to guests whether they were sat in pink, orange, blue, or black. The long tables were laid out in a square with the middle reserved specifically as a smiley-face dancing area – and boy was it used! There was also a lamé-curtained stage in the pub, which provided the perfect theatrically stylish backdrop for their speeches (more brides doing speeches, please!)

Congratulations to Jess & Andy (on getting married, of course, but also on being the most stylish couple ever), and if you’re having a London winter wedding, feel free to get in touch. I’d love to hear from you!
